Your way. ( Psalm 119 v 1 - 8 )

Lets think about being,' led by the Spirit,' ( Galatians 5 v 18) and,'walking in the Spirit', ( v 16),,John Stott puts it like this, ''It is the Spirit who does the leading, but we do the walking''.Consider the Spirit and the word of God, will always work in harmony, they will never contradict each other. The believers in Galatians were being fooled to walk contrary to Gods revealed word,it was not the Spirit that was leading them.Let us remember there is only one word of God, never forget this, do not be fooled to think otherwise, and to act contrary to Gods word,if you do you will regret it.In Psalm 119 v 105, we read, 'Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light for my path'. Make no mistake if we forsake Gods word we will stumble in the dark, we will loose our way. There must  be an obedience to the word of God at all times, when the prophet disobeyed Gods word ,he was slain by a lion (  1 Kings 13 )When Lots wife disobeyed Gods word she was turned into a pillar of  salt (Genesis 19) ,when Jonah disobeyed Gods word he was swallowed by a great fish  (Jonah 1 )The Christian life is not a passive life, it is ,each day, a walk, in the Spirits, according to Gods  will ,as revealed in His word.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 '' The Christian can never say or                                                                                                                  sing ,I done it my way.''

With Him we can. ( Ephesians 6 v 10 )

In  Galatians 5 v 25 ,we read ,'If we live by the Spirit, let us walk by the Spirit',Paul the apostle is stressing the challenges that we face ,the conflict that every Christian has because of the 'Flesh', which J.B.Phillips calls our lower nature ,he gives a list, that is not exhaustive ,5 v 19 -21 , we all need this reminder that we have to contend with the evil within,we cannot know victory  in ourselves ,we must receive the Holy Spirits enabling. With His help we can manifest the fruit of the Spirit , they are, ,Love, Joy, Peace,Patience, kindness, goodness, Faithfulness, gentleness, self -control.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                  A prayer                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Dear God and Father grant us your Spirits power                                                                                     to overcome the evil within all of us,and enable                                                                                       us by that same Spirit to manifest  godly qualities                                                                                     this day.                                                                                                                                                                     In Jesus name Amen.

It just happened. ( Hebrews 11 v 3 )

Two men were out walking in the country, one was an  atheist ,the other a Christian, they were both admiring the scenery,it began to get dark and they both stopped and looked up at the stars. The Christian asked his friend, how he thought it all came about?.well he said I believe it just happened. His friend invited him home for a meal,it was lovely, and his friend asked him do you believe that a cook made that meal or did it just happen?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                In the beginning God created the heavens                                                                                                and the earth.                                                                                                                                                     ( Genesis 1 v 1 )

Things can happen suddenly. ( Job 1 - 2 )

I know someone who suddenly and unexpectedly has lost his job,he is a Christian, which is good news, because he has a loving heavenly Father who cannot be surprised. He is sovereign. He is in control, and what he requires of His children is trust, whatever you may be going through at this time,He calls us to trust, knowing our times are in His hands.Think of the saints in the Bible,Joseph who  had more than his share of trials, likewise  David hated and hounded by King Saul. Think how suddenly Jobs life fell apart, but his faith remained intake, consider the disciples crossing  the sea of Galilee (Mark 4 v 35 - 41 ).Fear kicked in even though Jesus was with them,,but the good news is He came to their aid,and with that He brought a challenge as to why they were afraid, their lack of faith. The scripture tells us, ''As a father has compassion on His Children ,so the Lord has compassion on those who fear Him.For He knows how we are formed, He remembers that we are dust'' (Psalm 103 v 15 - 16 ) That does not mean that we are insignificant,it means He knows we are weak, we do not always have faith, we will panic and even question God,but in it all ,He cares for us His children.                                                                                                                                                                                                                        Be still, my soul ,thy God doth undertake,                                                                                                To guide the future as He has the past,                                                                                                      Thy hope, thy confidence, let nothing shake;                                                                                             All now mysterious shall be bright at last,                                                                                                 Be still , my soul, the waves  and winds still know                                                                                   His voice who ruled them while He dwelt below.                                                                                           (Katrina .A. D. Von Schlegel )                                                                                                           ( I will taking a break, I will return ,shortly, every blessing.)

You have to have heart. ( Psalm 86 v 12 )

It is recorded that David Livingstone died praying on his knees , Daniel prayed three times a day on his knees , and was condemned to death because of it. I usually pray  sitting down, many years ago I always prayed on my knees, but my knees began to hurt,so I sit when I pray, there are times I still pray on my knees, but during my daily walk I pray. Prayer demands a right attitude ,of reverence, whither we kneel ,walk,or sit, it goes without saying, that for the Christian prayer is vital,we need to pray, pray , pray. Our relationship with God is vital, and prayer is a vital part of it, John Burton wrote                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    I often say my prayers,                                                                                                                               But do I ever pray?                                                                                                                                     And do the wishes of my heart,                                                                                                                 Go with the words I say?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               For words without the heart,                                                                                                                     The Lord will never hear;                                                                                                                           Nor will He to those lips attend                                                                                                                 Whose prayers are not sincere.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       Lord teach me what I need                                                                                                                         And teach me how to pray;                                                                                                                         And do not let me seek Thy grace                                                                                                             Not meaning what I say.

Inward assurance. ( Philippians 3 v 4 - 11 )

John Stott writing on John Wesley says he was an example of many religious people who are in bondage to their religion. He became a member of what was know as the Holy Club,he was the son of a clergyman ,like his father he became a clergyman. He was orthodox in belief, religious in practice, upright in conduct and full of good works . He and his friends visited the inmates of a local prison, and work-house at Oxford. They took pity on the slum children, providing them with food, clothing and education. They observed Saturday as the Sabbath as well as Sunday. They went to church and to Holy Communion. They gave to the poor, searched the scriptures, fasted and prayed. But they were bound in the fetters of their own religion, fot they were trusting in themselves that they were righteous, instead of putting their trust in Jesus Christ and Him crucified. Later on he did in his own words, came to 'trust in Christ',in Christ only for salvation' and was given an inward                     assurance that his sins had been taken away.He later wrote of  his pre- conversion experience' I had even then the faith of a servant, though not that of a son'                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             John Stott                                                                                                                                Christianity is a religion of sons, not slaves.

Weakness. ( 2 Corinthians 12 v 9 )

I have a friend who is a very bright Christian, he is practically house bound, but he suffers from mental illness, he has a friend who works, who is very capable yet he suffers from mental illness, he also is a very bright Christian. I was listening to a man ministering on You Tube, he told of a man he visited, who was paralysed from the neck down for the last nine years.he was a minister, and although he is paralysed,he spoke of the wonderful fellowship he had with the Lord,in spite of his disability, he has prepared Bible courses for many churches. In spite of these people having difficulties,God has sustained and blessed them. Being a Christian does not mean one will not suffer ,Job that very godly man suffered  tremendously ,Paul one of the greatest of the apostles ,wrote of his infirmities ,of his thorn in the flesh, and Timothy suffered stomach trouble , and frequent illnesses. Irrespective of the difficulties we have ,and restrictions they may bring, God can enable us to still shine for Him,and  glorify Him.Annie J.Flint experienced many difficulties in her life, she was wheel chair bound owning to severe arthritis as she grew older, yet out of suffering, she wrote poetry,a favourite one is called, 'He giveth more grace                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                He giveth more grace, when the burdens grow greater,                                                                              He sendeth more strength more  ,when the labours increase                                                                    To addeth afflictions, He addeth His mercy,                                                                                              To multiplied trials,, His multiplied peace.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    When we have exhausted our stores of endurance,                                                                                    When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,                                                                              When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,                                                                                     Our Father's full giving is only begun.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           His love has no limit, His grace has no measure,                                                                                       His power no boundary known unto men,                                                                                                 For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,                                                                                                       He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.

And I prayed. ( Jude v 24 - 25 )

I was walking one morning , praying as I walked, asking God to lead me not into temptation, to deliver me from all evil, and to have clean heart,I pray this most days, it is not vain repetition, but the earnest prayer of my heart. And as I prayed, the words from 1 Peter 1 v 5 came into my mind,''Kept by the power of God'',they brought great comfort and assurance to my heart.Later I was reading C.H.Spurgeon , who was writing on repentance, here is part of what he wrote,'' True mourning for sin will make us very jealous over our tongue, lest it should say a wrong word;we shall be very watchful over our daily actions, lest in anything we offend, and each night we shall close the day with painful confessions of shortcoming, and each morning awaken with anxious prayers, that this day God  would hold us up that we may not sin against Him''.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                          His love in times past,                                                                                                                                Forbids me to think                                                                                                                                    He'll leave me at last                                                                                                                                  In troubles to sink;                                                                                                                                      Each sweet Ebenezer                                                                                                                                  I have in review                                                                                                                                          Confirms His good pleasure                                                                                                                      To help me quite through.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     (John Newton )

Lost and found. ( Luke 15 v 11 - 25 )

It is great when you find  something important that you have lost,I know a man and he used  a cash dispenser ,and he walked away, leaving his card in the dispenser. Well you can imagine the panic when he discovered it was lost, the bank with the dispenser was in a large shopping complex which he was still in.So he ran back to the bank, when he arrived at the bank , he explained to a lady what had happened, well she explained that if the  card is left in the dispenser ,it draws it back in..Well to that mans relief, the card was recovered, and nothing had been taken out of his account.Yes loosing something valuable is  not nice, but finding ,it is a relief. You know what the Bible tells  us, everyone on the whole of planet earth is lost, and  God does not like that, for it is very serious, it has awful consequences for all of us.And so God did a wonderful, wonderful thing, because He loved this old world so very much,He sent Jesus,to rescue, the likes of you and me.And when he finds those who are lost heaven has a  big party, because He has saved them, and they will not be going to the place were lost souls go.                                                                                                                                                                                      We're all like sheep  who've wandered                                                                                                       off  and gotten lost                                                                                                                                                       Isaiah 53 v 6.

Justification . ( Galatians 2 v 17 - 21 )

There are people who challenge Christian when they say they are saved ,by saying, so that means you can live whatever way you want. That is so far from the truth, it is John Stott  in his book on Galatians who writes the following on being Justified freely by God, when a person puts their faith in Jesus to be their Saviour .But first an short explanation on the meaning of justification, it is a legal term borrowed from the courts. When we put our faith in Jesus as Saviour we are declared not guilty, no longer are we condemned,no longer are we lost,no long are we under  the wrath of God. C P Romans 5 v 1.Now let us consider what John Stott has to say that this weakens a mans sense of  moral responsibility.  ''We are justified in Christ ....united to Christ by faith. And someone who is united to Christ is never the same person again. Instead, he is changed. It is not just his standing before God which  has changed; it is he himself- radically , permanently changed. To talk of going back to the old life , and even sinning as he pleases, is frankly impossible.  He has become a new creation and begun a new life''

Despair turned to hope, ( Psalm 42 )

Imagine what it is like for many people who are driven from their homes ,and from their homeland, to end up in a country, with nothing. This is nothing new for it happened to the people of Judah to those we would call the people of God.The world power at the time was Babylon, they conquered what was left of the nation, destroying  Jerusalem, and the temple. They had been warned time and time again to change their dreadful wicked ways, and turn to their God,but they wouldn't ,so eventually it happened. So they would spend the next 70yrs in Babylon, here is how they felt in words from Psalm 137.                                                                                                                                                                                              By the rivers of Babylon                                                                                                                            There we sat down, yea ,we wept                                                                                                              When we remembered Zion.                                                                                                                      We hung our harps,                                                                                                                                    Upon the willows in the midst of it.                                                                                                          For those who carried us away captive                                                                                                      ask of us a song.                                                                                                                                        And those who plundered us requested mirth,                                                                                          Saying,  '' Sing us one of the songs of Zion.                                                                                                                                                                                                  Sad words, words of hopelessness, their world lay in ruins, yet into that situation, came words from God through the prophet Jeremiah, could it be that these words are for you/?,here is what they said.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                For I know the thoughts that I think  towards                                                                                            you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and                                                                                                not of evil, to give you a future and a hope.                                                                                                              Jeremiah 29 v 11.

You Tube { Micah 6 v 8 )

I like  watching You Tube, what I enjoy most is old movies, I am a big fan of Laurel and Hardy ,it also informs with helpful information as regards the cults, that should be helpful  if one comes in contact with them..It has also  plenty of history presentations, and so many other things, but I would advise caution about the excessive criticism of different Christians, some is very legitimate, as regards ,the prosperity gospel people, But some people appear to be on a witch hunt,Billy Graham came under attack on his finances,to me Billy was a man of God,who sacrificed a lot of time away from his family.Think of the thousand of people who were saved under his ministry, and the godly men who supported him.The point I am making is be careful that  you do not go along with all those people who are pulling everyone to pieces, if there appears to be a problem with whoever, pray for them, and don't join in casting stones, for remember what our Saviour said, he that is without sin cast the first stone, let our judgement be righteous judgement, any other type of judgement ,stands condemned. Praus ( 2 Corinthians 10 v 1)

I suppose you are wondering what the word ,'Praus ' means?,well it is a New Testament Greek word, which I read in William Barclays book ,called,'New Testament Words'.It means gentle ,it can mean a kindly and a gracious word,a gentle breeze or a gentle voice. Now in 2 Corinthians 10 v 1 we read of the meekness and gentleness of Christ, which is a wonderful way to describe our Lord, especially in the way He spoke to people, in a gentle gracious way.To the downtrodden ,to the sad and brokenhearted  ,Matthew 11 v 28 - 29  reads,'' Come to Me, all you labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest, Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.'' I can imagine Him speaking these words in such a gracious and gentle way. Think of  the gracious gentle way He spoke to the woman caught in adultery in John 8 v 1 -10,''neither do I condemn you''.....''Go now and leave your life of sin''.Now the word 'Praus', has other meanings to it , but let us learn from our Master to be more gracious, gentle ,and kind with our words.                                                                                                                                                                                                         John 7 v 46                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        '' Never man spake like this.''

You can have it all. ( Matthew 4 v 1 v 11 )

There is a popular singer, who sang a  song ,with the words ,''We could have had it all '', I know of preachers and they are telling their blind followers,''You can have it all'', wealth and health, yes it can be all yours. My mind turns to another time ,when Jesus was told ,''You can have it all''  and he showed Jesus all the kingdoms of  the world, all this can be yours, if you will bow down and worship me. Those who speak and tell us that we can have it all , that they are gods, I have heard them say so, what do gods want? let me tell you ,they want you to worship them, or who they represent, the god of this world, who comes to people as an angel of light, and he says to them, you can have it all,if you fall down and worship  me.

Light ( Romans 10 v 14 - 15 )

Jesus brings us from  salt to light, He declare to all who are His,''You are the light of the world'', what a  tremendous challenge, and he goes on to use another metaphor, ''A city on a hill cannot be  not hidden''(Matthew 5 v 14 )mankind's natural inclination is to shy away from the light, because they love darkness instead of light( John 3 v 19).This is borne out when Jesus came into this world, Jesus who is the Light of the world, was rejected, not only rejected, but pursued to death. Jesus has gone ,back to heaven,so  we are not here to hide ourselves away, to be reclusive, Jesus says shine be seen, for we need by our lives, our words, and our deeds,to  be a witness, and in doing this our Father in Heaven will be glorified.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                       There's a call comes ringing,                                                                                                                     o'er the restless wave,                                                                                                                                 Send the light,Send the light.                                                                                                                     There are souls to rescue,                                                                                                                           there are souls to save.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Let us pray that grace may                                                                                                                        every-where abound,                                                                                                                                  Send the light,Send the light.                                                                                                                      And a Christlike spirit                                                                                                                                everywhere be found,                                                                                                                                Send the light,Send the light.                                                                                                                           (Chas.H. Freddie Mercury

I  never listened much to  Freddie Mercury, but  I know he was very popular world wide, but I read recently an article about him in a national paper. Here is a couple of things he said. ''You can be loved by so many people , yet you can be so lonely. And that makes it worse because most people think, ''How can somebody like Freddie Mercury be lonely? He has money, cars, chauffeurs, the lot. But sometimes that kind of loneliness is the hardest to bear.'' A very sad statement but of course life is full of lonely people. It was the Beatles who sang about,'All the lonely people'. I confess that for a great deal of my life I felt loneliness, even in a crowd,on consideration it has eased.I thing my childhood had a bearing on it. Yes let us be honest ,because you are a Christian,it does not mean you will not feel lonely, but let us not feel condemned as regards  feelings such as loneliness, if you have suffered a bereavement, you will feel lonely.lost even a pet you will feel lonely. Not everyone feels lonely, but I think loneliness will always exist.,it is a complicated subject, but I know one who  knows the meaning of loneliness His name is Jesus, who felt alone ,the loneliness person on planet earth, when on the cross He cried out,''My God ,my God, why have you forsaken me?.So he understands the loneliness of mankind ,and He can  gave us the grace to endure even loneliness..                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                      No one understands like Jesus

A thing of beauty ( Numbers 32 v 23 )

The morning was misty and damp, and I was out walking, I notice a lot of spiders webs,I stopped and had a look at them. My initial conclusion was they were things of beauty, made by small little creatures, and it appears  that they have this amazing  ability,to make webs, those apparent things of beauty. But then they are more than a thing of beauty, they are things of danger to those little creatures  who are unfortunate enough to get caught in them. We read of a man called Achan  and he saw a things of beauty, a beautiful robe, silver and gold .We can read about him in the book of  Joshua  chap 7,Achan and the army had conquered the city of Jericho, God had  forbidden anyone to take any of the spoils of war, but Achan who knew this disobeyed. ,he hid what he had taken,in his tent. How foolish and blind he was, the Lord God who sees all things saw him.Nothing happened immediately, but his actions had sad consequences.Israel experienced defeat in their next battle, and lives were lost, no matter attractive something may be, no matter how beautiful it  may  look,no matter how desirable it is,if God says its wrong, if we disobey, there will be consequences, as  Achan  and his family found out. And so will we if he step unto the path of disobedience .

The salt of the earth ( Matthew 5 v 13 )

I was given a lawn treatment.,by a neighbour,I thought it was for making my lawn green,But unfortunately the places I put it on  turned to dust.I  have tried to grow grass on this but alas, the soil has been turned in dust ,just fit for.to be dug  up and  dumped  . This reminds me of what Jesus taught in Matthew 5 v 13,''You are the salt of the earth. But if salt loses its saltiness,  how can it be made salty again?. It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled by men''.. Now I do not think that Jesus is teaching that salt loses its saltiness, but He is simply saying if it did, its of no worth. Salt was valued highly in the ancient world, the  Romans said ,' There is nothing more useful than sun and salt'.It was used as  a preservative ,saving food from corruption. So many people get corrupted by money ,sex ,and power. the Christian, must not be like them. When that old testament saint Daniel's life was examined by his enemies ,we read,'They could find no corruption in him, because he was trustworthy and  neither corrupt nor negligent'.( Daniel 6 v 4 ) he was being the salt of the earth, we are called by our dear Saviour to follow in Daniels footsteps.

Apostleship ( Ephesians 2 v 19 - 22 )

I have stared studying Galatians again, I use a book from ,the Bible speaks today series ,by John Stott, He points out that it was written to the church in Galatia Paul wrote to them because false teachers had come into the church, and were seeking to undermine the gospel, and his authority. If they can undermine Paul's  authority then they can undermine the gospel. Paul belonged to that select band of people who were apostles,John Stott writes the following,''It was a special term reserved for the Twelve and for one or two others whom Christ had personally appointed.   There can , therefore, be no apostolic  succession, other than a loyalty to the apostolic doctrine of the New Testament. The apostles had no successors........no one could succeed them. They were unique ''. When we the read what the apostle Paul in his epistles wrote, and all the other writers of scripture,we are reading Gods word. There are Christians today like those who would  challenge Paul's apostleship and would undermine  Paul's authority still, like professor C. H. Dodd a very scholarly person who said''Sometimes I think Paul is wrong, I have venture  to say so.'' His scholarship of course also got in the way, when he was one of the people translating the,New English Bible when he took exception  to the word propitiation ( Romans 3 v 25 ).John Stott further says ,''The apostles of Jesus Christ were unique, unique in their experience of the Jesus of history, unique in their sight of the risen Lord, unique in their commission by Christ's authority and unique in their inspiration by Christ's Spirit. We may not exalt our opinions over theirs or claim that our authority is  as great as theirs. For their opinions and authority, we must bow therefore to theirs.''

I got annoyed ( James 1 v 19 - 20 )

I parked my car,in the car park of a supermarket, and then for safety ,I used the walk way, and suddenly a man on a bike ,near hit me,and frightened me.He stopped and boasted about his skill in not knocking me down. I reminded him that this was walk way,but he  would have none of it.He turned the whole thing on me blame me for not watching where I was walking, I found myself shouting at him that it was a walk way.I know that I should not have shouted. So often it is the unexpected that catches us out.The word of God tells us in 2 Timothy 2 v 23 - 24.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Don't have anything to do with foolish and stupid                                                                                     arguments, because you know that they provoke                                                                                       quarrels. And the Lords servant must not quarrel,                                                                                     instead , he must be kind to everyone, able to                                                                                           teach , not resentful.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                             Dear Lord forgive.

Why. ( Romans 5 v 19 )

Why have we so much wrong in the world, I read recently that 70 percent of women in New Guinea  have experienced rape Why?  what causes humanity to do awful thing, continually we are hearing of well known personalities being charged with rape. The world can be a very dangerous place to live in,why?, the simple answer is disobedience to God,from that time in Eden, an evil disposition took root in our nature,a nature that causes us to disobey God. This is borne out,  by the fact that everyone of us without exception have broken Gods law, read them in Exodus 20 v 1 - 17. and let us remember that if we think it in our hearts, then we have sin because it is in our nature, there is a spirit of disobedience, ( Ephesians 2 v 2) other translations have sons of disobedience,to be accepted by God it takes perfect obedience. So the world continues on its downward path. How often have we said ,how could they do such a thing?,the answer is ,they are at odds with a Holy God . Now God conceived a way out for us,by sending Jesus, who would fulfil  the law perfectly, not breaking it in word. thought, or deed, and God  said that through this mans perfect obedience I will save save mankind, ( Romans 5 v 19 ),the man Jesus would pay the price for our disobedience,by taking our punishment for our sins. It means that no matter how much we have disobeyed God ,He will forgive us, if we call on Him, we will be saved.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                        The wages of sin is death                                                                                                                          but the free gift of God is                                                                                                                          eternal life in Christ Jesus                                                                                                                          our Lord.                                                                                                                                                         ( Romans 6 v 23 )

The wicked ( Romans 5 v 6 - 8 )

The bible shows God as being forgiving ,this upset Jonah,so he fled  away from Gods command to go to the city of Nineveh. Eventually he went and preached to them a message of judgement, the result was ,the people of Nineveh repented of their sins ,God responded to them ,and had  compassion on them, and did not bring destruction upon them.Well this did not go down to well with Jonah,so much so ,that he was angry that God had spared such a wicked city.In his anger he prayed to God  he knew that He was gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in love ,one who relents from sending calamity. Because of this he ran away from God ,in other words He wanted God to destroy the Ninevites, After praying he wanted God to take his life, he went and lay down,God caused a plant to spring up to give him shade, and then caused it to die, which caused Jonah again ,to desire to die.But God spoke to him, pointing out that Jonah was more concerned with the plant dying, than the one hundred and twenty thousand people plus the animals whom he wanted God to destroy. I wonder sometimes how people care more for their comforts than the souls of the lost . Well even though there are people who are wicked and are in our eyes worthy of destruction God loves them,                                                                                                                                                                                                                                           Christ died for the ungodly,                                                                                                                       Christ for His enemies,                                                                                                                                Christ did for us.

The indescribable. ( 1 John 4 v 8 / John 3 v 16 )

How does one describe the indescribable ?,I am talking about the love of God,but we can try,it was F.M.Lehman who wrote a wonderful hymn called , 'The love of God',actually one of the verses was penciled on the wall of a narrow room of  an asylum by a man said to have been demented.                                                                                                                                                                                                                               The love of God is greater far,Than tongue or pen can ever tell;                                                               It goes beyond the highest star. And reach-es to the lowest hell;                                                             The guilty pair, bowed down with care,God give His son to win;                                                             His erring child He reconciled,And pardoned from his sin.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                         When hoary time shall pass away,And earthly thrones and kingdoms fall;                                               When men who here refuse to pray,On rocks and hills and mountains call;                                             God's love, so sure, shall still endure, All measure-less and strong;                                                         Redeeming grace to Adam's race- The saints and angels song.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                     Could we with ink the ocean  fill, And were the skies of parchment made;                                             Were every stalk on earth a quill, And every man a scribe by trade;                                                         To write the love of God above, Would drain the ocean dry;                                                                   Nor could the scroll contain the whole,Tho stretched from sky to sky.                                                                                                                                                                                                                         Oh, love of God, how  rich and pure,How measure-less and strong,                                                         It shall for ever-more endure-The saints and angels song.

It is our choice . ( 1 Samuel 18 v 21 )

When Hitler came to power, one of the things he brought into being, and oath by the army of absolute obedience to him. That oath was very influential and many soldiers found themselves involved in acts of cruelty, they otherwise would not have done. I believe we should never take an oath of absolute obedience to any earthly power, or person. Of course obedience is vital to any society ,or household ,we cannot have anarchy, without obedience ,things will fall apart. We read how Christ became obedient unto death even death on a cross, without this obedience we would have no salvation.Israel 's history is one of continual disobedience, and they paid a price for it,but when they obeyed what a difference that made,God caused them to prosper, obedience to God will always make not only a difference, but it will bring blessings. When Israel disobeyed they suffered, when they obeyed God  and honoured Him,their enemies were defeated, the country never looked back. We will never lose out by obeying God, disobedience will cause us to loose out in so many things,Jonah disobeyed his call from God and he found Himself in dire straits.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                               To obey God is always                                                                                                                                          Better                                                                                                                                                          Safer                                                                                                                                                          Rewarding,                                                                                                                                     To disobey God is always                                                                                                                                       Dangerous                                                                                                                                                 Foolhardy                                                                                                                                                   Sinful
