How great Thou art.[ Psalm 8/ Romans 1 v20]

I was preaching the weekend in Linconshire, one of the things I liked, I saw the stars, I have mentioned before how , I cant see many stars here,because of the natural light. The Bible tells us that there are two types of people in this world,the natural man and the spiritual man, the natural man does not see spiritual truths, he will look up into the sky with all the wonderful galaxy of stars, and he will say no God,instead of seeing the wonders of creation, he see,s no meaning, to it. The Spiritual man looks up, and declares , in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth, and that the Heavens declare the Glory of God.[ O Lord my God ,when I in awesome wonder consider all the works Thy hands hath made,I see the stars, I hear the mighty thunder,Thy power throughout the the universe displayed ,Then sings my soul, my Saviour God to Thee,how great Thou art, how great Thou art. Amen ]

Gods ways. [ Isaiah 55v 8-13 ]

God moves in mysterious ways, so wrote the hymn writer,in Isaiah 40v13 we read,/ Who hath directed the Spirit of the Lord, or being His counsellor hath taught Him/.There is indeed a mystery about God and His ways which we need to appreciate, consider what God can do, He is all powerful, and then what He does,He could one would think do so much ,like stopping all the evil in the world, but He does,nt,He could stop earthquakes but He does,nt, the list is endless. So why does He not stop earthquakes, etc? I do not know,it is in Isaiah 55v8-9, we read,/ For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,saith the Lord. For as the heavens are higher than the earth,so are my ways higher than your ways, and my thoughts than your thoughts/. These words must be accepted by faith,they are spoken by the God of love, who is just, a God who in His way is seeking to redeem a fallen world. [Dear God help me to trust You, even when I do not understand Your ways ,in Jesus name Amen] [I will be away for two days so no blog ]

I am growing old.[ Isaiah 46 v 4 ]

When you get to my age you wonder is the Lord finished with me, is my ministry finished, is that it?, after all I am not young anymore, my energy level is not what it used to be. Mybe I should just face the facts, that it is time to retire,so why is it ,I still have the desire to preach ,to serve my Lord?. Such are the thoughts that cross my mind, and yet the Bible tells us of different people God used in old age, Moses, Abraham,Caleb, and not forgetting Paul the aged. So is God finished with us because we are old ?no,what we need to do, is to continue to be open in our minds, willing in in our hearts, to accept Gods plan for us,whatever it may be, for that plan will be perfect.I read this recently in a daily reading,/There is no retirement in the service of the King of Kings, He has the right to ask us for anything, and send us anywhere at any season of life/.[ Dear God old though I be, I ask, that You would continue to help me serve You in Jesus name Amen.]

Oppression. [ John 8 v1-11]

The Koran is going to be burnt by a pastor in USA, the world of Islam will be up in arms,they feel their god is being insulted. It appears that anyone who differs with them is worthy of death,it does see to me that Islam is a very violent religion, they are good at reminding the world of the wrongs of the crusades, but they did there fair share of conquering. Time after time we here of poor women,[it never seems to be the men]being flogged or stoned to death. I remember speaking to a young soldier, who had served in Afghanistan,I asked him what he remembered about his time there?,he replied, people with no limbs,this was there punishment for stealing. Imagine what it must be like living under such a system, no thank you,today let us pray for Muslins,that God would move,and save,also let us remember our fellow Christians,who live in the lands of Islam and suffer many injustices.[ Dear God have mercy on those who are living under the oppression of Islam, bring them to faith in Thy son Jesus,also help Your people who live within the lands of Islam, Amen ]

Everyone. [Romans 3 v23 ]

Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, recently a visitor to our church told us of four people who trusted Christ as their Saviour and one was a protitute. This dear lady had suffered tremendous abuse and is dying of cancer,now she is saved,safe and going to heaven. But I mentioned four people, I dont know much about the others, but whatever their profession, they had the same need of salvation as the prostitute, why?, because all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Because everyone is a sinner everyone without exception needs Jesus as their Saviour, that means prostitutes,pilots, footballers,old people ,young people, all people, that means you and me.[ Dear God forgive me my sins in Jesus name Amen.]

Emotions. [ John 11v35 ]

Often as I preach these days I become very emotional, I read something this morning and tears came to my eyes. People become embarrassed when they show emotion, and yet God has emotions,Jesus wept openly[ John 11v35 ], He is touched with the feelings of our infirmities, [Hebrews 4v15],in all this Jesus who is trully God and trully man, shows us a God who has emotions, of love,and compassion, for His creation.When we show the right kind of emotions,we are, I believe being like Jesus,so let us weep ,as Gods word touches our hearts, as His spirits moves upon us,and we see things through His eyes, yes let us weep, for this sinful hurting world, and let us pray, and let us do, what we can , to be Gods instuments of healing.[ Dear Lord Jesus as I go through this day, help me to feel for those who are hurting and wounded, Amen ]

Preach the gospel. [ 1 Corinthians 9 v16 ]

I was busy yesterday, spoke three times, and even sang once at a hospice,although my singing ministry I feel is coming to a close.When I was booked to speak at the evening meeting ,I was asked to preach the gospel, which I attempted to do. It is the apostle Paul who declared , woe is unto me ,if I preach not the gospel [1 Corinthians 9 v16],these words are a challenge to me, and I hope to you, to tell others about the Saviour. It should be one of the most important things in our lives, we should all be like Paul, let us ask God to help us to tell others about Jesus,let us rise above our reserve,our feelings of rejection when people, dont want to listen to us. Jesus is saying to all of us , I want you to preach the gospel, I will help you,, I will give you the words to say, be faithful in this task, for My sake. [ Father, help me to tell others about Jesus, grant me boldness ,and the power of the Holy Spirit Amen]
