Old age. (2 Timothy 4 v 6 -8 )

Old age is a time when physical problems,of one sort or another kicks in. The writer of the book of Ecclesiastes describes the ageing condition Chap 12 ,the writer of the Message  puts this way,' In old age, your  body no longer serves you so well. Muscles slacken, grip weakens, joints stiffen.....You can,t come and go at will. Things grind to a halt.....Hikes to the mountains are a thing of the past. Even a stroll down the road has its terrors. Your hair turns apple -blossom white. Adorning a fragile and impotent matchstick body'.Yet I believe we need not despair because of this, there are advantages, the Lord is still with us ,He does not forsake us when we are old. our infirmities drives us to God,to lean more upon Him,we are more depended on Him. Dependence on God is a beneficial experience, and that can bring us into deeper experience with our God. And when death comes we need not fear the valley of the shadow death, for Christ will  be with us,what an advantage we have, heaven is assured, because there was a moment in our experience we trusted Christ as our Saviour.

'When all my labours and trials are o'er

And I am safe on that beautiful shore,

Just to be near the dear Lord I adore,

Will through the ages be glory for me.

O that will be ,glory for me,glory for me,

When by His grace I shall look on His face,

That will be glory,be glory for me.'  (Words Charles H. Gabriel)
