Trust Him for all your tomorrows. [ Psalm 23 ]

My friend was visiting me  recently, and we both spoke on how God has blessed us,we both come from Ireland,when he arrived in England ,he had very little, likewise myself, in my case I was married and had four children,and like my friend I had very little.This was a good number of years ago ,since then God in His great mercy has blessed us and our children,with jobs,homes,and all we need. We can trully say great has been Gods faithfulness, like the Psalmist we both can say, that we have been young ,but now  are we are old, and we have never seen the righteous forsaken , nor His seed begging bread[Psalm 37v25]. Dear Child of God remember God is faithful,He whose eye is upon the sparrow ,will always care for you, so praise Him for present and past blessings, and trust Him for all your tomorrows.
A  prayer..../Dear God  we praise You for Your faithfulness,help us to trust for all our tomorrows in Jesus name Amen./

Are we significant?[Psalm 8 ]

Recently while watching the TV ,the camera were up in the air and it showed people on the ground they looked the size of ants.In relation to the universe we may ask, are we of any significance?,the sheer vastness of the universe dwarfs this minute planet we live in,so again we ask the question, are we of any significance?. Even bringing it down to the size of the worlds population,what significance are we as individuals?,the Psalmist asks the same sort of questions in Psalm 8v 3-4,/When I consider Thy heavens,the work of Thy fingers,the moon, and the stars,which thou hast ordained. What is man, that thou art mindful of Him? and the son of man, that Thou visitest him/ This was not a question of doubt, but a statement of utter and complete amazement,that such a thing should be. I read this verse this morning,/ Creator of the universe,who reigns in awesome majesty,how can it be that You,re involved, with such a one as me/.[Sper] The coming of the son of God is such a wonder,God with us,not just as a tourist, but as one who came to show in the most profound way that though we may appear to be insignificant,we are in fact so important that this son of God would give His very life for us,that is how inportant you and I are.
A  prayer...../ Dear God we are sometimes overawed by our smallness,and yet  we rejoice that You have shown us in the most profound way, through Calvary that not only are we imporant ,but that You also love us,we thank You in Jesus Name Amen /

Moods. [ 1 John 3 v 1-2]

We are all to some extent creatures of moods, I work among those who are mentally ill,and I see people who struggle with their moods, if only we could find a happy pill,but up till now it does not exsist. Everbody wants to be happy not just the mentally ill,the only thing is ,a state of undiluted happiness is impossible, even if we are Christians.The main reason is, we are still part of a fallen world,we are still affected by an imperfect mind ,body and circumstances,I do find it hard to sing the words of that old hymn ,which says now I am happy all the day. The fact of the matter is I am not happy all the day,yes some days I am happy,but I am happy that I am a Christian,that is something that never changes,nor ever will change.This is something that is not depended on my mood,yes I may not be able to honestly sing that I am happy all the day, but I am gloriously happy that Christ is my Saviour,and in the words of another old hymn,that means, it is well with my soul.
A  prayer..../Dear God we praise You that we can say it is well with our souls,it is not always well with many things,but we thank You that in Jesus we can trully rejoice. Amen /

Be revelant but. [ Jeremiah 6 v16 ]

Last evening I was ministering at a small church, this church is led by two elderly ladies,they dont do any preaching but lead,when I am asked to preach they always stress they want me to preach the gospel.I enjoy going there in some  ways it is like going back in time,they sing the old choruses ,and from the old hymn books, Sankey/ Golden bell.These two dear women have been very active in missionary support,they are two godly women,and I admire them a lot.Things have changed in the Christian church ,dress code,hymns,attendance at church,often only one service on a Sunday,of necessity we have to,and must change.The church must adopt to the age they live in,and yet must not in any shape or form compromise as regards the truth, people are still sinners ,still lost, still going to a lost eternity.Christians still need to be built up in their most holy faith,need to hear and be fed from Gods word,it should never be said that the hungry sheep look up and are not fed.By all means let us be relevant to the 21st centuary, but let us be faithful to God and His word.
A prayer...../Dear God in this changing world, help us to hold unto Your unchanging truth in Jesus name Amen./

The Lord Looketh on the heart.[ 1 Samuel 16 v7 ]

I am glad I attend a church that is imformal,it was not always so,I remember hearing of the former minister being criticised for taking his coat of  when preaching,but thankfully things have changed.When I was a minister I used to wear clerical garb ,I still try to look my best when I meet with Gods people, at one time I used to wear a bow- tie,yes that was my bow tie period.I remember  people making a great deal out of women wearing jeans,and if they wore make up, they were labled a Jezebel.I remember a speaker telling how a preacher was challenged by lady for wearing perfume[after shave],and he replied ,yes but it is obvious you dont wear perfume. Again I remember a pastor I knew who had a beard, being told by someone as they left at the close of the service,pity about the beard.A number of years ago I went to minister at a church, who had called a new minister, he was a young man , and he had an ear ring in one ear,which was a bit different, and for some not acceptable, and I remembered a scripture, /The Lord seeth not as man seeth, for man looketh on the outward appearance,but the Lord looketh on the heart[ 1 Samuel 16 v7]/
 A  prayer...../ Dear God forgive us for judging people,as the old saying  goes,judging the book by its cover, thankfully, the outward appearance is  not important,  with You, in Jesus name Amen /

It is not natural . [ Hebrews 11]

The way of faith does not come naturally to us, for it is not  natural ,it is a spiritual concept,we will not be applauded for walking, and living by faith, there is every possiblity that people will despise you. I wonder how many people thought my wife and I were going to fall flat on our faces when we stepped out by faith, with our young family. But God honoured our faith ,oh yes we where tested, faith will always be tested,was not Abraham and Sarah severely tested, tell me a saint of God who took a step of faith,and was not tested. Yes faith will be tested,but it will not be found wanting,God will honour those who honour Him, for He delights in those who trust Him, when the chips are down.In the midst of a life threatening storm. Paul boldly declared a message of hope,God had spoken,that all those in the ship in the storm would be preserved,so he declared, /I believe God. Acts 27 v25/, and so it came to pass.
A prayer..../Dear God help us to live by faith, to not be afraid, to take a chance,knowing that You will not fail us,in Jesus name Amen /

True riches [ Philippians 3 v 8 ]

Proverbs 23 v4 - 5 /Labour not to be rich.......for riches certainly make themselves wings,they fly away as an eagle toward heaven./ Now there is nothing wrong with being rich, but we are warned that the love of money is a great evil,we read of a rich young ruler, whose love for money was greater than his own soul Matthew 19 v16 ff. All the people who are going for gold are not in the Olympic games, there are literally millions of people who are clutching their lottery tickets, for we are told there shall be 100 millionaires, and as I was leaving my place of employment,I overheard a number of people expressing the hope of being one. It was the apostle Paul who reminds us Christians that we should never be fooled by earthly values[ cp  1 Corinthians9 v25],if God should bless one with riches, then use those riches to bless others,and above all else, to not let  our possessions possess us.
A  prayer..../Dear God help us to not be fooled by worldly values, that we are to love You,that our service may be as unto You,our worship may be always focused on You,in Jesus name we ask this Amen./
